The pilot course of the Teleturf project launches

After more than a year and a half of work, the TELETURF project is reaching its decisive phase. All the tasks carried out so far have resulted in the creation of didactic contents, developed from the training and capacity needs expressed by artificial turf maintenance professionals.

In order to validate all the work done so far, these contents have been implemented in a pilot course, available in English and Spanish for the students which sign up before the 7th July 2018, which will surely provide relevant data to TELETURF’s managing consortium in order to prepare the final product.

To carry out this task, sports managers, technicians and operators involved in the maintenance of artificial turf fields throughout Europe have been invited to participate in this pilot course, which has been developed with a limited number of places. It is important to highlight the diversity of nationalities that are participating in this event, with representation from nine different countries, each one with its own particularities: Spain, Italy, Latvia, France, Croatia, Holland, Portugal, Slovenia and Slovakia. This allows us to have a considerable corpus of students, with 24 students participating in the Spanish course and 17 students taking the course in English. Likewise, the technicians belonging to the consortium entities are also carrying out this course, this task being part of the continuous internal evaluation procedure that is carried out according to the project’s quality assurance strategy.

The didactic contents are structured so that the course has a duration of 50 teaching hours, and the platform that hosts it will remain open from July 8 through September 14, so students will have almost two and a half months to carry out this training.

The course is entitled “Management of maintenance of artificial grass sports facilities” and consists of six modules with the following topics:

  • Introduction and construction components of artificial grass
  • Biomechanical aspects of artificial grass
  • Evaluation of the technical function of an artificial turf field
  • Evaluation of the sportive function of an artificial turf field
  • Regulations
  • Maintenance of artificial turf pitches

Once the course has been completed, students will be awarded a certificate of achievement and will provide the consortium with valuable information on all the didactic elements that could be improved.
